State Police Family Day canine demonstration

This beautiful and smart girl demonstrates her ability to obey the commands of her friend and fellow officer. Males and females are used as police dogs and they are trained over many months of diligent work to protect their master when needed and to grab the extremity of a "bad guy" and hold on to them until they are commanded to release them to the uniformed officer. They live with the officer, are bonded to them, and are trained to be aggressive while apprehending a criminal.
There is even a button that allows them to exit the back of the cruiser if the officer needs assistance.

Be sure to click on the picture to see a larger view of her attacking an officer who is pretending to be a "bad guy" for the demonstration. She reacts exactly as trained and commanded, because she knows what her job is.
Below, the dog is asked to find where an item is hidden, which smells like the drugs she is trained to locate. It only took her seconds to find the right container. The dog's nose is 400 times better than a human nose when it comes to identifying and locating scents. She was not thrown off course even though she was surrounded by hundreds of people, who all had their own scents of sweat, shampoo, sprays and other grooming products.

The dogs also wear bullet proof and stab proof vests. But they were not wearing them for the demonstration because of the intense heat that day.
